tubics
A YouTube-SEO SaaS that helps companies get found on YouTube. I was CTO: architecture, team and operations.
Context
Companies publish videos on YouTube and rarely know why some are found and others are not. tubics turned YouTube data into concrete recommendations for titles, descriptions and tags.
Task & role
As CTO I was responsible for the technical architecture, the engineering team and the operation of the platform – from data ingestion to the product that customers used every day.
Architecture
The platform collects channel and video data through the YouTube APIs, enriches it with keyword and ranking data and computes recommendations that the web application presents per video and per channel.
Decisions & trade-offs
- Quota as an architectural constraint. The YouTube APIs are rate-limited; ingestion was scheduled and cached around that limit rather than around user requests.
- A product, not a report. Recommendations were built into the workflow of the people uploading videos, not delivered as a PDF.
Outcome
tubics grew into a SaaS with paying customers. The platform is now in maintenance; for me it remains the proof that I can carry responsibility for a product, its team and its uptime.
